‘Our Light: Strength and Nurture, a Celebration of Women’

Join us for a free charity art auction with a series of unique pieces illustrating the diverse beauty and resilience of women.

Saturday, 31st May 2014, Doors open at 5:30pm, performance by Hannah White begins at 7:00 pm, final call for bids is 8:30pm, winners announced at 9:00pm.

The event will feature artwork from professional and amateur artists from around the world including Maria Fernanda De Marco, an Argentinean who has used her beautiful drawings, engravings, and paintings to advocate for women and self awareness throughout her successful professional career. Mansoora Hassan, born in Pakistan, has been featured in over 50 shows in major galleries internationally and uses a diverse aesthetic to explore social and political issues that are important to her.

The night will also feature a musical performance from a BBC introducing featured artist, Hannah White. Hannah is an upcoming British singer/songwriter who has been described by Gary Mundy of Acoustic Magazine as having “a voice you will want to protect and fall in love with.”

Proceeds from the event go to IWI’s Safe Birthing Programme, a pilot development project aiming to provide training and employment, focused on improving maternal health and access to family planning in the Amolatar District, Northern Uganda. Safe birthing kits will be distributed within the community to support the immediate needs during delivery, and trained Community Change Agents will provide prenatal and new-born health check-ups as well as maternal and reproductive health workshops.
